Grilled Chicken Breasts with Tomato-Caper Sauce

I will start with the recipe and then explain the benefits of the ingredients!

Let's start with the top!

  • Olive Oil is GREAT as it protects brain health, preventing some types of dementia, improving circulation, and helping to improve memory.

  • Garlic has several benefits: brain cancer protection, improved memory and learning, blood flow regulation, Alzheimer's disease prevention, protection against aging and disease.

  • Grape tomatoes contain antioxidants that help reduce the signs of aging and improve overall brain health. The lycopene may help reduce the risk of age-related cognitive decline and dementia.

  • Believe it or not, our next good thing for the brain is... dry white wine! Low levels of alcohol consumption can reduce inflammation in the brain and clear away toxins. Antioxidants in dry white wine may reduce the risk of cognitive decline and lower the chances of Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia. Moderate uses of dry white wine can help promote relaxation, reducing stress and anxiety.

  • Capers, which my husband does not like, they are great because they contain antioxidants that may help protect against neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Some studies suggest they have anxiolytic properties, reducing stress and anxiety levels.

  • Salt is the next one and all I will say on this is PLEASE watch your consumption of it! Excessive intake can raise your blood pressure and increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and heart failure.

  • Black pepper is the complete opposite! Piperine is an active compound in black pepper. It inhibits an enzyme that breaks down the calming neurotransmitter serotonin, potentially useful in treating mood disorders. Black pepper containing β-caryophyllene improves brain antioxidant status, promotes neuronal cell survival, and inhibits inflammation, mitigating anxiety-like behavior.

  • Unsalted butter is great for the brain as it contains multiple nutrients that aid with overall brain health. These vitamins are vitamin A, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, vitamin K2, and butyric acid.

  • Basil improves mental reflexes and stimulate the mind.

Now we are doing the chicken ingredients! That was just the sauce!

  • Chicken breasts are a rich source of choline, which aids in cognitive function, memory retention, and mood regulation.

The last three ingredients of the chicken stuff are the olive oil, salt, and pepper which can be found above! Overall, this recipe is phenomenal for the brain, and I hope it's delicious to you! I will share this little fact about me... I can't smell or taste since my injury - but I will always share these recipes with you! Plus, I don't know about you, but I love learning about the ingredients and how they are GOOD for me!
